The government subsidizes corn more than any other food. Corn is found in virtually all of our processed foods in one form or another (high fructose corn syrup, etc). The high amounts of sugar found in processed foods create an addiction cycle that makes a person crave more of that particular food, resulting in higher profits for the food companies. Veggies, due to its lower sugar content, is not as addicting as processed foods. Therefore it yields lower profits, which is not in the interest of unethical food companies.
